My name is Rebecca Latimer and I work as a Senior IT Systems Engineer.
I come from a networking and database background, started working with Macs around 2016, and spent most of the last decade doing endpoint engineering. These days I work mostly in identity – Okta, SAML and OIDC, SCIM provisioning, certificates, and device trust.
What I work on
Right now I’m working on the review process for enterprise AI connectors – how we decide which MCP integrations get access to company data and what has to be true before we say yes. There isn’t much prior art for this yet, which is the fun part.
A few other things I’ve enjoyed working on: migrating our endpoints to FleetDM and a more modern GitOps way of working, getting certificate-based GlobalProtect authentication working on ChromeOS with Palo Alto (which was brand new), chasing an intermittent AirPlay problem at a school district all the way down to a vendor bug in DHCP relay handling, and figuring out how Silver Sparrow got onto one of our very locked-down Macs.
Community
I’m on the board of the Mac Admins Foundation as Board Secretary and I chair the Access and Professional Development Committee. I started the Charles Edge New Speaker Grant, which gives out $10,000 a year and has funded five first-time conference speakers so far. Helping new people get on stage is my favorite part of any of this. I’ve also been an admin of the Mac Admins Slack since 2023, along with the rest of the team that keeps the place running.
I’ve spoken at MacAdUK, MacDevOps YVR, PSU MacAdmins, JNUC, and Brainstorm, about LaunchDaemons, managing Windows endpoints, and running Apple betas. I’ve also been on the Mac Admins Podcast five times.
Elsewhere
I live with my partner and daughter in northern Minnesota in a beautiful old house that is always cold. When I’m not working I’m usually automating something in the house or building something enormous in the yard.

halloweenbuild.com – We go overboard for Halloween most years. This site chronicles some of our adventures in creating a big spooky display in our neighborhood every year.
